We are passionate about outdoor lighting because it is all we do.

It’s holiday time. Everyone, absolutely everyone, will be trying to sell you a warranty. You’ll be in a hurry or in a long line of people and the talented sales person will quickly rattle off all the impressive benefits of the low-priced warranty. The salesman will then remind you how much you’re spending for that item and let you know the tremendous cost to replace your purchase if anything goes wrong. What do you really get with that service plan? You get a bundle of promises that may or may not deliver once you actually need to use the warranty. If you have kids with iPhones, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The way they found to destroy their i-phone is conveniently not covered in the warranty’s red tape.

A maintenance plan is completely different. With a maintenance plan, the goal is to keep your investment serviced so it lasts many years to come. With an annual maintenance plan, you don’t have to worry about when something goes wrong quickly heading to the mound of warranty papers you have to make sure your investment is safe if you encounter that particular problem. At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of St. Louis, we want you to call us if your bulb is out or if something is not working with your outdoor lighting. We want to protect your investment and we want your outdoor lighting to look the best it can for the life of your system.

Take a look at this St. Albans home and how it’s beautified at night.

Think about maintenance on a car. Your car manufacturer will give you good deals to come in and get your oil changed because they know that critical maintenance task will dramatically improve your car’s life span. At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, we feel the same way. Thousands of area homeowners have purchased outdoor lighting from us throughout the more than a dozen years we’ve been in business here in St. Louis. Those systems have brightened homes and landscapes at night, made home safer and more secure, and increased the resale value of homes.

We want our customers’ lighting systems to look as good 5 and 10 years down the line as they do when we originally install them. That’s why a large percentage of our customers come back again and again to add lighting to other areas of their home such as adding lighting to their deck, patio, pool or backyard living spaces.

Decide what you want your guests and visitors to see and make those areas shine. If you have a stand of gorgeous river birches, use uplighting to show them standing tall and majestic in the night. Leave the nook where you keep the trashcans in the dark. Light the areas where guests enter your yard and your home.

These elegant and quaint holiday lights become the star of the show.

Your holiday lights can direct not only your guests’ eyes, but their actions as well. If you have multiple entrances to your home, you can signal that you want them to walk or park in certain areas by guiding them with strategically placed lighting. You can also build the anticipation for a festive holiday party by starting your lighting at the street and continually lighting the path to the house. It’s a very subtle but effective technique.

The most magical effect of holiday lighting is that it makes your home the place people want to gather. When family is arriving after the car trip that lasted 2 hours too long, the sight of your home welcoming them with the promise of a gracious welcome and holiday cheer is going to fill them with excitement (and

relief!). Guests will know which home is  yours because it is the only one on the block with the 6-foot tall twinkling wreath hung at the roof peak (or whatever signature decoration you’ve chosen). They will easily identify it with you and know that the best party of the season is about to start!

If you are going to have outdoor lighting at your home this season, the time to make that decision is now. At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, we install your lights for you. So, your holiday planning is as easy as giving us a ring and selecting the outdoor holiday lighting of your dreams. We literally take care of the rest. As you can imagine, the most popular day to have your lights turned on is Black Friday. For our customers, we install their lights earlier in November so all they have to do is flip the switch. If you want to turn your holiday lights on right after Thanksgiving, you will want to call now so we can schedule and complete your install in time. Time slots for early installations are already going.

Less is always more when it comes to mosquitoes!

Outdoor living is not only a trend – it’s a lifestyle. St. Louis homeowners are adding outdoor fireplaces, decks, and patios to their backyards to really enjoy spending time and quality living in their own backyard. With the investment in these spaces, and enjoying the spaces, residents want to enjoy their yard from the day long into the night. As dusk falls, the true romance of outdoor living and summer memories comes to life with well designed outdoor lighting. But, with dusk comes mosquitoes. With mosquitoes come the threat of mosquito-borne illnesses. At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of St. Louis, we have a sister company – Mosquito Squad of West St. Louis County. With the combination of outdoor lighting and insect protection, we can ensure you can really enjoy your outdoor space at night.

How does such a tiny insect cause so much trouble? Simple; mosquitoes, though tiny, are capable of giving us not only itchy bites but also of transmitting illness and disease. Among the most recent mosquito-borne illnesses that is causing quite a stir is the painful Chikungunya Virus. Here in St. Louis, health officials recently confirmed the first case of this virus to show up locally in the St. Louis area. Luckily, the infected resident was not bitten by a mosquito in St. Louis, but rather by a mosquito from the Caribbean.

The CDC confirms  the virus is transmitted to people by mosquitoes.  Symptoms include headaches, fever, joint pain and swelling.  The virus made its first appearance in the Americas in the Caribbean in 2013.  So far, there is no vaccine to prevent the disease or medicine to treat the infection. Since the first local transmission of Chikungunya was reported in the Americas late last year, health officials have been bracing for the arrival of the debilitating, mosquito-borne virus in the United States. Just seven months after the first cases were found in the Caribbean, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention( CDC) reported the first locally acquired case of Chikungunya in Florida.
